The Mission
Cosmic Research is a non-profit association dedicated to the development of rockets with scientific applications and to revive the passion for space and educate the new generations of students in rocket science.
With this endevour, since 2017 we have participated in regional and national CanSat competitions as rocket launchers in order to inspire kids to pursue technical and specially space related studies.
A CanSat is a can-sized satellite loaded with a simple experiment designed by a group of highschool students. The objective of the experiment has to be as imaginative and useful as possible.
The Rocket
Since 2017 we’ve been developping our own custom CanSat launchers. Always working to ensure safety, reliability, efficency and reusability.
With our homemade rocket – Christa -, we can deliver up to 6 CanSats reaching velocities of 450 m/s and altitudes over 1500 m.
The keys of our Christa Rocket are:
- Simplicity:
The modular design allows for swapping of damaged rocket parts after each flight ensuring safety, reusability and a cost-effectiveness.
- Reliability:
A certified motor is used to ensure good and predictable burn characteristics.
- Capacity:
Christa is capable of carrying and deploying 6 CanSats at each flight.
Professional launch providers
As an assocaciation, we regularly develop these and other educational activities targeted at the young. By doing so, we provide junior students opportunities to learn about space and basic engineering.
Since 2017, Cosmic Research has been a launch provider for the regional ESA CanSat Competitions taking place in Spain and we have launched 116 CanSats .

Zaragoza
National Spanish CanSat competition held in San Gregorio, Zaragoza. 12 CanSats were launched and it was a complete success.

Navarra
In April 2019, we launched 12 CanSats for the basque regional competition.

In May 2019, we launched 8 rockets for the national CanSat competition.

Christa Test
In February 2020, the Christa rocket made its maiden flight, deploying all test CanSats successfully.

In March 2020, we launched 12 cansats for the basque regional competition.

Granada
First national CanSat competition held in Granada. We successfully launched 12 CanSats.
07/05/2022
Òdena
First Catalan CanSat competition held in Òdena – Catalonia. In total, we successfully launched 18 CanSats.
29/04/2023
Lleida
Catalan CanSat competition held in Aeroport de Lleida – Alguaire, were 18 CanSats were launched.
